Tsandripsh, aka Tsandrypsh, Sauchi, Pilenkovo, Yermolovsk, Gantiadi - these are all the names of the resort village in Abkhazia closest to the Russian Federation. If you search for it on Google maps, then only the Georgian name "Gantiadi" will be available. The distance from the border is only 5 km. If you do not take into account the queues for passing the cordon at the peak of the summer season, then you can drive in half an hour from Adler airport - this is only 20 km. It belongs to the Gagra region as well as Gagra with Pitsunda, for example. Despite its small size and population of about 5,000 people, this resort takes its worthy 6th place in the Abkhaz tourist offer.
Tsandripsh is not equal to Sochi. Here the sea is much cleaner, there are fewer tourists, the prices for everything are cheaper ...

How to get to Tsandripsh
There are 4 ways to get to Gantiadi from Russia:
- By direct train from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Penza and Belgorod. A reserved seat ticket costs from 3300 to 4800 rubles. Travel time from 35 hours;
- By plane or train to Sochi (Adler), and from there by public transport (ticket costs 30-40 rubles) or by network taxi to the border with Abkhazia from 500 rubles. Distance 10 km. Then cross the border on foot and take a minibus to Tsandripsh, which costs an average of 250 rubles per person;
- By train from Adler railway station in summer. Travel time is about 2 hours. Tickets from 800 rubles for a reserved seat;
- Order an individual transfer to Tsandripsh from the airport or railway station in Sochi by car, minivan or minibus. If you are traveling with a family or a group of 4 people or more, then this option will be cheaper and more comfortable for you. The cost of the trip is from 1800 rubles for a car.
Sights and history of Tsandripsh
Like the capital of the Abkhaz Autonomous Republic, Gantiadi is no exception - evidence of human life was found here as early as the 1st millennium BC. Historically, the well-known princely family of Tsanba lived in these places, hence the national translation of the name of the area - “the village of Tsandov”.
In this resort town there are enough attractions:
- Right in the center are the ruins of the Tsandripsh temple;
- Stalin's dacha on the "Cold River" is only 7 km away. from the village;
- Also 7 km. the Khashup fortress, founded by the Romans, is located;
- The highlight of the place is the White Rocks, located just 3 km. from the resort. People come here from all over Abkhazia
